T-Mobile to offer Motorola CLIQ for pre-order starting on October 19th

We reported earlier tonight that T-Mobile could be sending out the over the air update for Android 1.6 as early as tonight. I seriously doubted the rumor, but it looks like I was proven wrong. Two readers have already confirmed that they received the OTA and one even sent in pictures to prove it. According to Tmonews , select G1’s will receive the update over the next 24 hours and then it will begin rolling out to myTouch 3G users. We expect the rollout will be staggered so it could still be a few weeks before everyone is officially updated. If we obtain a link to the official update file, we will post it so that users can perform a manual update instead of having to wait. Android 1.6 about screen. [Thank you Kevin Mohr for sending in the picture]

Look no further for confirmation! Tonight marked the beginning of the Donut OTA rollout for T-Mobile customers on Android phones.  Our friends over at Tmonews provided some extra details regarding tonight’s OTA release: Only select G1s would be receiving the update tonight, with select myTouch3Gs on the schedule for tomorrow, and then the rest to follow. As everyone sat and waited in anticipation to get their update notice, they finally started to trickle in around 1:30AM Eastern Standard Time. Hopefully the updates will run smoothly and remain uninterrupted. We’re very excited to see the community’s response to this update, for both novice and expert users.

I like Steve Rubel, but I often disagree with some of his ideas. In Steve’s latest post, “ The Next Great Media Company Won’t Have A Website ” he argues:  Because a new media company can be everywhere using “spokes” (widgets, Facebook, ect.) it won’t need a “hub” (a website.) A lot of folks will argue Steve is right because, what is a website besides another spoke? That’s a fair question. I don’t have a definitive answer, but here’s what I think: I’m not convinced the spokes will replace t
