It features full Internet for surfing the Web, get social with Facebook & Twitter, stream YouTube in High Definition, search Google Maps, check email, and comes with wireless keyboard and mouse with pointer. The best feature is the ability to access the Android Market and download Android Apps. This will amount for a whole new level of apps developers will create and innovate.
PhotoSpeak – Bringing Snapshots to Life. From the masters of image manipulation at MotionPortrait, PhotoSpeak takes still photos from your Android handset and transforms them into amazing 3D avatars that can repeat your every word, both on your phone and your friends’ as well. Price: ¥350 AndroidTapp.com Android App Review: Pros & Cons: Pros Impressive app for bringing photos to life! Make your 3D avatar speak what you say Avatar is interactive; blinks, moves and follows your screen gestures Cons Stores all 3D avatars and voice recordings are stored inside internal memory storage Features: PhotoSpeak for Android is innovative and simply impressive ! Take a photo or use one from your phones gallery to bring a photo to life as a 3D avatar; complete with blinking eyes, movement, it follows your screen gestures and you can make it speak recorded messages you say! It’s all done in the cloud on MotionPortrait ’s servers, quickly shooting the interactive avatar back to your phone. I remember seeing this technology years back only available on the Web by SitePal who used vector 3D avatars to convey text-to-speech messages… now it’s available for smartphones. Even create a music video from your avatar, see how New York rockers Masters of Reality used PhotoSpeak to create their music video . Check out how we used PhotoSpeak for a lil celebrity endorsement! Gripe Alert: all 3D avatars and voice recordings are stored inside internal memory storage, be sure you have a lot of space or delete some avatars when using the app. Video: PhotoSpeak for Android http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXDrbmbg7Ps To create a PhotoSpeak movie using your favorite photos 1. Make sure your phone is connected to a network. WiFi is better. 2. Press the ‘Camera’ button. 3. Take a photo or select one from your photo library. 4. Wait until the process is complete – it can take a minute or more over a cellular network, but is usually done in a few seconds on WiFi. The created movie is automatically saved. To record a voice 1. Press the ‘Record’ button. 2. After the confirmation dialog is displayed, press ‘OK’ to start recording your voice. 3. Press the ‘Stop’ button to stop recording.
Android Adviced ™ by AndroidTapp.com is a set of frequently asked and answered questions geared at new Android users. If I paid for an app and get a new Android phone, will I be able to download those apps again? Will I have to pay again? No, if you log into the Android Market with the same Gmail/Google Apps account you initially purchased with, you should be able to re-download those Android apps at no additional cost. Google keeps a history of your app purchases in cases like this. I cannot find some of the Android Apps reviewed and recommended on AndroidTapp.com, why is that? Unfortunately this is the negative effect of partly Android Fragmentation and saturation limitations in many countries. There are many phones with different versions of the Android operating system. For example, (at the time of this writing) most Android phones are running 2.0.1 which are Motorola DROIDS , followed by 1.6 which consist mostly of T-Mobile smartphones like the T-Mobile G1 and MyTouch , followed by 1.5, and Nexus One boasting the latest 2.1. Many Android developers simply many not yet support your Android OS version. Many countries either do not have access to the Android Market or may have access but to only the free apps and not paid apps. How do I lock my Android phone? First enable “Pattern Lock”. Go to Settings Menu » Set unlock pattern. Android locking works by patterns drawn versus a PIN code or password. Draw a pattern you can remember. Every time you lock your phone or it falls asleep the Pattern Lock enables. I entered the Pattern Lock code incorrectlty more than 3 times… How do I unlock it? As a backup, Google allows you to retrieve it online using your Gmail/Google Apps account. I want to Pattern Lock my phone but I don’t want to unlock it every time I wake the phone up. How to delay screen pattern lock even when the screen is black? Autolock . It’s a simple Android app to delay the pattern lock screen at intervals you choose. If you set the app to activate the pattern lock at 3 minutes, after 30 or so seconds your phone sleeps (the black screen) and you wake it up under the 3 minute threshold, you won’t have to pattern unlock your phone. How do I lock my text messaging and Gmail apps? There are a few apps but we recommend Protector as you can protect the whole Gmail app with PIN code password or only certain features of the app like certain folders/labels. Honorable mention would be App Protector . Can I access my apps through shortcuts without scrolling through the menu? Yes you can make shortcuts. 2 ways… find a free spot on the home screen, press it for more than 2 seconds (known as Longpress) and a menu appears for shortcuts, or open the list of apps and Longpress an app then drag and drop it where you want it. To delete from the home screen, Longpress then a red trash can appears at the bottom, drag and drop there. How do I delete pictures, files and video? For pictures and video it is easier to open Gallery app and delete. For files download and use Astro File Manager . How do I save a picture through MMS to my phone? For most Android phones with 1.6 or higher, there is a convenient feature to Longpress and save to SD Card. However for phones running Android 1.5 ( HTC Hero , Samsung Moment , Motorola Backflip , etc.) this feature is not available we recommend using Save MMS . How to turn on or off keyboard sound effects? Go to Settings menu » Sound & display » check/uncheck Audible selection.

PhotoSpeak for Android takes a still photo from your phone’s image library or the camera, shoots it up to the cloud and delivers a startlingly realistic animated 3D avatar based on the pic moments later. Japanese development firm MotionPortrait created the mobile image manipulation app. Which can be programmed to speak what you say by simply recording your voice and the 3D avatar speaks back in a parrot-like simulation. The features don’t stop there as the avatar is interactive; swipe the screen and it follows your movement and even blinks too. The app was so impressive to rock group Masters of Reality that they created their music video with the app… see below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCIAOQrnWSg

Cast your vote here: http://blog.laptopmag.com/march-smart-phone-madness-finals-motorola-droid-vs-palm-pre-plus Hurry as the vote ends April 5 at 9am EST before the big game in the evening.
http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid980795693?bctid=73201837001 RebTel is an Internet phone company with more than 4 million users. In recent years they have seen long distance market share increase go from 15% down to 8%; mainly due to the new behavior of calling from computers. Their business model offers free long distance calling without the need for Wi-fi. The catch however the calling and receiving parties must both have the RebTel app installed. The iPhone and Blackberry versions are due out soon (provided they pass respective vetting processes) . If you do make an International call to someone without RebTel the rates are really low, in fact lower than Skype. RebTel calls to India are 1.8 cents a minute while Skype is 10 cents a minute. They do offer a manual method for making free calls at http://www.rebtel.com/en/Learn/Make-Free-Calls/ .

DoubleTwist now offers a desktop version of Google’s Android Market similar to iTunes despite Google not releasing something like this themselves. However there is currently only support for Mac and not Windows. :-( In the interim Windows (…well all) users can always browse our website for the complete Android Market at apps.androidtapp.com . Their product also conquers common problems of different media formats not playable on portable devices. For example, Android won’t or at least has severe trouble playing WMV formats in my experience; DoubleTwist automatically converts these formats and you can sync playlists too. It also allows you to find and listen to Podcasts, purchase MP3’s from Amazon MP3 music store , browse photos, and of course watch videos and listen to music on your computer.
