OK, yesterday when I posted a strange Nexus One /Wiimote/ Handlebar mount mashup I questioned just how far people might push their Android phones, and it turns out at least a few are looking to outer space as the final frontier for the little green robot. While converting an N1 into a make-shift Gameboy showed some ambition, it is easily trumped by a group known as th e Maverick Civilian Space Foundation who turned to the handset as a proof of concept as to how using off-the-shelf products and components can drive down the cost of today’s enormous and expensive satellites. The test flight was to see just how the Nexus One would handle extremes such as high G-forces, massive vibrations, and temperature extremes. Early attempt brought back a busted Nexus, but the second phone launched provided the following footage of its journey into the upper realms of the earth’s atmosphere. Pretty damn cool if I do say so myself. [via Wired ]

Google TV is being pitched as a new experience that “combines the TV you know and love with the freedom and power of the Internet”, but the gaming opportunities have been downplayed so far. When I look at Google TV, I see a viable game system that can actually compete with the likes of Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony. Logitech has an exclusive deal to provide the first Google TV companion box and they are also excited about the gaming possibilities, or more importantly the peripherals they can sell. In their Q2 earnings call, Logitech CEO Jerry Quindlen explained his excitement for the platform going forward. “I think the real opportunity for gaming for us going forward is going to be continuing to be around PC for sure and frankly I think the emerging gaming opportunity with Google TV. We think there will be a lot of interest to Flash-based games. There will be a lot of opportunity for us with peripherals around that.” Quindlen made it clear that peripherals were the main reason Logitech was investing in Google TV and admitted the company might not even make companion boxes in the future. The company plans to invest the gross profit they generate from the sales of their Google TV box this year in marketing activities so they can create awareness which should lead to future sales. One marketing campaign called Logitech Lofts is already underway. Logitech will hire three social media bloggers to live in swanky lofts and host parties that will introduce people to Google TV. So who will supply the games for Google TV? Android developers are out of the picture at this point since the Android Market will not be available on Google TV this year, but the support of Adobe’s Flash player opens the door to a wave of social browser-based games. Some sites like TechCrunch are reporting that Google is secretly creating a new platform called Google Games and that Zynga will be the cornerstone of the service. Zynga, makers of FarmVille and other social games, has seen their profits climb to new heights thanks to Facebook, but their relationship with the site has seen better days and Zynga is looking to distance themselves. Google has already made an investment of $150 million in Zynga and a larger strategic partnership is still in process. Google recently hired a Developer Advocate for games and has job listings for Product Management Leader of games. It might sound like a stretch at this point, but it appears that Google Games is real and Google TV will be the platform used to launch the service later this year. Logitech certainly seems to think so based on their comments, so look for their full lineup of keyboards, gamepads, HD cameras, wheels, and more to make their way to Google TV.
The Motorola Droid 2 might not be out on shelves yet, but that hasn’t stopped at least one Best Buy store from getting accessories for the next member of the Droid family out on display. Droid-Life got their hands on some pics of a case for the phone that doesn’t yet have an announced release date (or any official announcement for that matter). I’ll just tell you that we probably won’t be waiting much longer, as this phone is rumored to be getting the official treatment towards the beginning of August, and I’m obliged to agree. If you want to pick up a Droid 2 case and fill it with wishes and hopes for the time being, you may want to check out your local BB. [via Droid-Life ]

While the leak of an official Froyo ROM for the Samsung Galaxy S might suggest the update to Android 2.2 might be coming to the international version of the phone rather soon, Samsung’s UK Twitter account revealed that the end of September is the likely target. Still a bit farther off than we could hope, but we must commend Samsung for how transparent they have been lately with the Android 2.2 update compared to earlier debacles with getting promised updates to other handsets. I’m staring at the international Galaxy S sitting on my desk and considering throwing the update on there and promptly video reviewing it for the benefit of you lovely readers…so should I do it?
J.D. Power and Associates periodically surveys cell phone users to see who’s doing well in the customer service department, and who gets a “Needs to Improve” rating. T-Mobile’s been in first place for quite some time, and that didn’t change with this most recent round. It was just announced that, once again, T-Mobile has the best customer service on average. I’m sure many of you have stories you could tell that refute that, but of course everyone drops the ball sometimes. I’m not a T-Mobile customer, but I can certainly give a company accolades for setting the standard high, and I would encourage other cell phone providers to take note. And T-Mobile, keep up the good work. Press release after the break. Customers Rank T-Mobile USA Highest In Wireless Customer Service Independent Study by J.D. Power and Associates Gives T-Mobile Top Honors for Superior Customer Service BELLEVUE, Wash. —July 29, 2010 — T-Mobile USA, Inc. continues to earn accolades for its dedication to providing customers with superior service. J.D. Power and Associates today announced that T-Mobile was the sole wireless carrier to earn the highest ranking in their 2010 Wireless Customer Care Performance StudySM — Volume 2. “We are honored to be recognized as the wireless industry’s highest ranked customer service provider,” says Brian Brueckman, group vice president, customer service, T-Mobile USA. “This award is a reflection of our frontline employees’ commitment to customer delight as well as our entire organization’s focus on helping customers realize the full potential of our great products and services.” Today’s honor continues to demonstrate T-Mobile’s commitment to providing an outstanding customer experience. The study provides a detailed report card based on consumer experiences on the phone with T-Mobile customer service representatives, through an automated response system (ARS), in person at T-Mobile retail stores and online at http://www.t-mobile.com The study shows the following: T-Mobile is the sole highest-ranked among all wireless providers in Overall Customer Care Performance, and significantly above the industry average. In direct interactions with customer service representatives, T-Mobile scores higher than any other wireless provider. On calls that began with the ARS and transferred to a customer service representative, T-Mobile leads all wireless providers. For customers walking into a retail store for service, T-Mobile scores above industry average. The 2010 Wireless Customer Care Performance Study – Volume 2 is based on responses from 9,690 wireless customers who had a customer care experience within the past six months. Online interviews were conducted between January and June of 2010. Recent recognition of T-Mobile’s customer service excellence also extends to its retail customer experience. Earlier this year, T-Mobile received the highest ranking for retail customer satisfaction in the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 Wireless Retail Sales Satisfaction StudySM — Volume 1.
A few weeks ago, Samsung was kind enough to send us an Intercept for review. While it may not be of Galaxy S caliber, it’s not intended to be. Rather, it’s more-so aimed at the featurephone crowd – those who want something more powerful than a featurephone, but maybe not all the bells and whistles of a high end smartphone. We spoke (unofficially) with Samsung about what other phones they think people will cross-shop the Intercept to, and they agreed its target is something like the enV Touch. There are two compelling things about this...

It’s that time again. Verizon has a new device and people are thirsty for all of the tidbits they can get well ahead of launch. Not unlike the other Droid phones before it, the Motorola Droid 2 ’s full user guide has been leaked and is available for download (PDF). The guide is business as usual, but it does tip us off to a couple of new details that we hadn’t known before. Namely, it appears that the “ not-MOTOBLUR-but-looks-an-awful-lot-like-it ” skin seen on the Droid X has been injected into the Droid 2. While nothing is official yet, we still have yet to see this device (in various forms) depict stock Android (that includes actual early shots of the device, dummy units for in-store displays, and this here user guide). Secondly, Swype will certainly come preinstalled on the Droid 2 if their “Text entry” section is anything to go by. You can opt for this or the multitouch keyboard that everyone loves from the Droid X. Finally, it’s possible that this phone could ship with Android 2.2 as the guide clearly shows the newly-updated-for-FroYo search box. Nothing is confirmed, but if the rumored August release date holds up to be true then we should most certainly be treated to some official details very soon. Download the user guide for your own enjoyment here , courtesy of Droid-Life .

Phones being launched with mobile hotspot capabilities are all the rage these days and Motorola and Verizon aren’t oblivious to that trend. They put the feature into the Motorola Droid X (and is rumored to be coming to the HTC Droid Incredible with an over-the-air upgrade soon) and they want everyone to see just what happens when you dare turn that little piece of joy on. If my phone could emit orbs whenever I touched it, I’d probably toss it off of a bridge. That’s just creepy. This is the Droid X, though, so you should expect that kind of magic from Verizon’s latest flagship phone. Take a peek at the short TV spot above.

Today, word from HTC is that the phones sold in China will ship with FroYo (2.2) – and with Sense to boot. Pretty interesting that the Wildfire and Desire will both be shipping with FroYo, while the rest of the world won’t get the update until “before Christmas .” Bastards.
One thing many of us throw into the faces of our iPhone-toting friends and family is the fact that – with most Android phones – you can replace the battery in case you need to pop in a spare (or in case the battery craps out and you need to buy a new one). Our good friend Arne Hess from The Unwired pointed something out with the Xperia X10 Mini that I’d never known before: the battery is not user replaceable. The phone has a removable back cover for the purpose of personalization and to access the SIM card slot, but there’s no battery to play around with. Obvious reasoning points to the device being small in nature: Sony Ericsson probably had to work the battery into the phone in such a way that accessing and replacing it probably didn’t work out too well (a custom-shaped battery that’s hard to replace without some light tool work comes to mind). I fully understand their position on that if that’s the case (you only have so much room to fit so many radios into the phone and the battery takes up a lot of that space), but I’m just wondering: are there any other phones without user-replaceable batteries? I personally haven’t heard of it stateside, but perhaps some of the devices more popular in Europe and other parts of the world are iPhone-like in this regard. Chime in if you have a device that doesn’t allow you to replace the juice-packing power source that smartphone users can’t get enough of (literally).

Are we surprised anymore? Quarter after quarter, J.D. Power and Associates surveys a number of cell phone users in America (9,690 to be exact this volume) on how satisfied they are with their carrier’s customer service (they had to have come in contact with retail sales associates in stores or over the phone in the past 6 months). T-Mobile’s long been at the top of that list, and they’re enjoying the honor again this morning so we can enjoy another three months of ads highlighting that. Here are some of the accolades they continued to rack up in more detail: T-Mobile is the sole highest-ranked among all wireless providers in Overall Customer Care Performance, and significantly above the industry average. In direct interactions with customer service representatives, T-Mobile scores higher than any other wireless provider. On calls that began with the ARS and transferred to a customer service representative, T-Mobile leads all wireless providers. For customers walking into a retail store for service, T-Mobile scores above industry average. If my personal experiences are anything to go by when I was with T-Mobile ever since I was a young teen (I left for Sprint this past June), then they definitely deserve it. They’re efficient, polite, and – if you’re a “loyalty” customer of theirs – they nearly treat you like royalty. I’m not just saying that, either, because their customer service made it very hard for me to leave them. They were one of the first supporters of Android, and while I was more advanced than your average T-Mobile G1 /Android customer, I can tell they really cared about the platform and made a strong effort to train employees on the OS to make sure other users weren’t left in the dark. All that said, we wish them the best as they continue to please millions of their customers at the point of sale and support. The study shows the following: T-Mobile is the sole highest-ranked among all wireless providers in Overall Customer Care Performance, and significantly above the industry average.
T-Mobile’s busting at the seams with information lately. We’ve seen the MyTouch 3G HD pictured before , but that was only a side angle shot showing the front. If you’re more of a “back” person, then these are for you. We obviously can’t make out the material of the backing, but it does appear to be shiny. It could either be metallic or just plastic with a white/silver shine, but does it really matter? Above the door (which has the small version of the MyTouch 3G logo on the bottom of it) you can find the protruding camera with what looks to be an LED flash to the left and the speaker on the right. That’s all that we can gather from this right now, obviously, but it’s always good to see an unannounced product come together at more angles than one.
We’re not entirely sure DroidAlone is a completely new idea, but it’s certainly a good one – it generates a log of missed calls, then automatically sends an email to a registered account. So if your phone’s somewhere else, DroidAlone will tell you if the debt collectors have been ringing all day again. Here’s the description from the maker : “DroidAlone notifies missed calls and sms by reporting caller’s name and number by email to an email address or by sms to a phone number. There are also a configurable “I’m away reply”, and a remote contact number picking function through sms. Every functionality can be enabled remotely by sending sms containing commands” And a couple of screenshots: The bad news is DroidAlone’s a paid-for app, so you’ll have to part with €1.50 for it if you like the sound of the thing. A search for “DroidAlone” on the Android Market will bring it up for you.
Even if Motorola’s still trying to bounce back from a long period of slow sales and lack of innovation, they’re still turning that big ship around with Android and is headed safely for shore without worry of deadly icebergs. They announced their second quarter financial results this morning, and while they don’t sound all too impressive compared to – say – HTC’s numbers, they are definitely a sign that Motorola’s headed back in the right direction. The mobile devices unit generated revenue of $1.7 billion last quarter – which is quite impressive – but they are still down 6% from the same quarter a year ago. A lot of their income came from legal settlements that Motorola was able to put into the books this past month (namely the lawsuits Motorola filed against several technology companies – including RIM of Blackberry fame – over patent disputes). Still, their resurgence into the mobile handset market thanks to the advent of Android has helped them cut their overall operating loss by more than half (around 54%) compared to just a year ago ($239 million in Q2 2009 compared to $109 million in Q2 2010). Motorola pegs their latest Android handset – the Motorola Droid X – as a key factor in strengthening their market position. They also didn’t forget to thank all of their other Android handsets – around 12 so far – which include the Motorola Charm , Motorola Flipout , the Motorola i1 push-to-talk phone, and more. Of the 8.3 million handsets shipped in the second quarter, 2.7 million of those run the Android operating system. According to Reuters , Motorola surpassed Wall Street’s expectations for the quarter (even if only by a small amount) meaning they continue to remain on the right track. Under co-CEO and mobile devices president Sanjay Jha’s direction, Motorola’s adopted Android as their exclusive operating system for all their smartphone offerings and the payoff has been quite tremendous, to say the least. It’s a trend that continues not only with Motorola, but with all of their competitors as well. It’s one of the main reasons Android’s gotten so much support from hardware manufacturers to date: show people that you can change the entire scope and direction of your business, and they will proudly wave your green flag without fear. Click over to Motorola’s site for the full financial results.

LG’s announcing the launch of their latest Android handset – the LG Optimus Z. The device will be available through Korea’s biggest carriers – SK Telecom and KT – though we can’t seem to pull up any pricing information at the time. The LG Optimus is an Android handset that you wouldn’t want to overlook if you were looking for something in the high-end range. It comes with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Android 2.1 (FroYo will be headed to the device before the year is up), a 3.5-inch Hyper HD LCD screen (800 x 480) and a 5-megapixel camera. It’s also coming with support for T-DMB so Koreans can watch their beloved television painlessly on the go alongside DivX support out of the box. One cool thing about the Optimus Z is that it allows you to operate your phone using your PC. Simply connect via Bluetooth or with a USB cable and your phone’s image shows up on your screen ready for interaction. This is something I would appreciate on a handset for handling mundane tasks (like installing a bunch of apps after having to do a factory restore). It doesn’t end there with over-the-air data transferring, though. LG’s introducing Drag & Shake which allows you to share files between phones (think Bump) and they’re also introducing Air Sync which keeps your phone synced up to your computer without the need to connect any cables. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like the Android market will be included here, but the devices comes pre-installed with more than 100 applications that are popular amongst the Korea natives (and whatever you can get through SKT’s and KT’s own application stores). If we can gather up any more details regarding pricing, we’ll be sure to bring those right to you. SEOUL, July 29, 2010 – LG Electronics (LG) today announced the Korean launch of its latest smartphone, LG Optimus Z (LG-SU950/KU9500). Offered through local tele-coms providers SK Telecom and KT, Part of LG’s Optimus Series, Optimus Z boasts a singular, stylish design and latest version of Google’s Android OS. With the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon at its core, Optimus Z is being launched with Android OS 2.1 with the option to upgrade to Version 2.2 before the end of the year. Advanced multimedia options include 3.5 inch WVGA “Hyper” HD LCD (800 x 480 pixels), Korea-specific T-DMB mobile TV, 5 MP camera, Dolby Mobile and DivX compatibility. Optimus Z comes with two 1,350mAh batteries, good for hours and hours of talking or entertainment. And at only 11.05 mm thin, Optimus Z and its unique “Z- style” design is more angular than previous LG smartphones and its matte-finish metal gives the Optimus Z a solid, durable feel. In a first for Korean smartphones, the LG Optimus Z offers On Screen Phone function that lets user display their phone interface on the screen of their PC. Using Bluetooth or a data cable, the interface will appear onscreen, letting users manage the phone’s vari- ous functions – including applications and e-mail – on the computer. In addition, any documents, images or music files stored on the PC can be easily transferred to Optimus Z using this interface. Furthermore, Drag & Shake allows LG Optimus Z users to share files between smartphones with a simple shake of the handset, while LG Air Sync lets them constantly sync the phone with their PCs or other mobile digital devices. The LG Optimus Z comes pre-equipped with more than 100 of the most popular appli- cations in Korea, along with 70 more that are not available in the Android Market. Additional applications may be downloaded through SK Telecom’s and KT’s respective application stores. Optimus Z is the third device in LG’s Optimus Series family to be introduced globally. More Optimus devices are in the pipeline, including the launch of LG’s Android tablet in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Camangi Market is calling on all developers interested in developing applications for Android that would tailor specifically to devices in the 6-inch to 10-inch range (tablets and MIDs, basically). With the Android tablet market getting ready to explode pretty soon (new devices are announced – at least in prototypical form – every day) this will be a welcome movement to get developers engaged in developing apps that take full advantage of all the screen real-estate that comes with devices that big. Camangi – already an alternative market for finding and downloading Android applications – will prominently display tablet-specific apps to make them easier for people to find (the Android market currently doesn’t prominently differentiate apps by screen size or form factor). It helps that they offer an Android-based tablet of their own, so you can be sure they’re deeply invested in getting the tablet-specific apps market to take off. If you’re a developer and would like to get your app submitted to Camangi for inclusion, be sure to head over to their site to register . You can also contact market [at] camangi [dot] com for more information and details.

Contributor Tim is not happy with the BBC… Fair warning! This is op-ed stuff. I’m rather cross. Dave Johnston, author of the much missed app beebPlayer, has posted some more information regarding it’s removal and official replacement on his blog . He quotes David Madden, the chap in charge of BBC iPlayer Mobile: The BBC’s syndication policy , which governs how the BBC makes its services available through other parties, clearly outlines the criteria for using BBC content. BeebPlayer was not a licensed distributor of BBC content online or on mobile. The BBC routinely looks for unauthorised usage of our brand and our content across all platforms and when we encounter it we work to resolve the issue. If on investigation we find that a company’s service proposition does not adhere to our standard licence terms and conditions, we will take steps to remedy the issue. This does not seem to bode well for myPlayer . Mr Madden has received quite a lot of flack for booting beebPlayer off the market, but justifies this by explaining what’s so good about the BBC’s new offering: Using Adobe Flash 10.1 streaming on mobile delivers significant infrastructure efficiencies for the BBC, as we use our existing video and audio encoding plant to create the streams. We don’t need to install any new kit or set up any new servers. We just use what we already have to offer a higher quality BBC iPlayer on mobile experience. Hmm. I’m pretty sure beebPlayer didn’t request any new kit to be installed at iPlayer HQ, and that worked pretty well already. He continues: Enabling Flash on Android 2.2 devices also means that all current and new devices that support Android 2.2 can get BBC iPlayer. These devices all use the same standard Flash player which means we can offer a consistently high quality playback across all of them. Previously we had to review and test BBC iPlayer on a device-by-device basis to ensure the right high quality experience. Now we can offer BBC iPlayer on mobile to a whole group of devices at once, which is clearly much more efficient. Yes, a whole group of Nexus One owners, currently the only UK Android users who’ll be using FroYo (Android 2.2). Soon owners of HTC’s latest batch (Desire, Legend and Wildfire), possibly a couple of Samsung owners and the one person who bought a Dell Streak will join this group. But this still seems to be leaving out the vast majority of Android users, stuck on 2.1 or (gasp!) something older. Certainly the flood of new, cheap, but perfectly competent budget Android phones will probably never get a look in. So you’ve not convinced me BBC. The popularity of Android is exploding in the UK but it seems all but the most high end users will be left out in the cold. Now that the BBC is allowed to develop apps for mobile devices, it would surely take less than a day’s worth of programming (in Dave Johnston’s own words) to come up with a solid, official app that would allow iPlayer to be accessed with the quality control the BBC requires, on the broadest range of Android devices. In the meantime, resources are found to develop a version for “ these selfish elites “… discuss!
HTC’s looking to capitalize on the great success they’ve achieved (and enjoyed) lately by positioning themselves to take the market by the horns with even more ferocity. The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer – one of the biggest supporters of Android since its inception – is announcing new hires and promotions within their company to make sure they remain ahead of the curve. Jason Mackenzie – former vice president of Sales and Marketing for HTC America – is now the president of HTC North America and Latin America. HTC applauds Jason for being one of the main reasons they’ve enjoyed continued success on this side of the globe. HTC’s also filling three more positions in their high-level management team. Jougi Kodera comes from the outside as HTC’s new chief product officer. Ron Louks will be HTC’s chief strategy officer (with his role being mainly to drive innovation and technological advances within the company). Finally, David Chen – a man who’s also been with HTC through thick and thin – will be promoted to chief engineering officer. In other areas of the world, Florian Seiche will take the reigns as HTC’s president for their European, African, and Middle Eastern divisions. HTC hopes this line-up will continue to drive everything that’s made their business so successful. Being a company with a lot of “firsts” in the smartphone game they know more than anyone how important it is to stay ahead of the pack in order to be successful.
Security firm MyLookout claims that developer Jackeey – the publisher of the app Wallpaper in the Android market – is sending your data to someone in China if you have their app installed. The collection of apps pose as harmless wallpaper galleries, but they do a lot more behind that black, shady curtain that you don’t see. Namely, your browsing history, text messages, SIM card data, subscriber ID, and your voicemail password are all candidates to be intercepted by the app and sent to mainland China. Reports are saying that at least 1.1 million users are affected by the malicious app, but we’re positive Google will engage that handy killswitch we know they have on standby to take care of this unfortunate circumstance. If you have that app installed, be sure to remove it from your phone at once if Google hasn’t already done it for you. [via Android Central ]

. . . Have you had problems getting AllShare to work on your Galaxy S phone? Unfortunately it’s not just a matter of right clicking and clicking “share” and there aren’t any good sources available on the web for this either, hence this guide was necessary. So let’s get started shall we? Oh, this guide is intended for Windows 7 users only. The secret ingredient to this whole process is Windows Media Player. (You can click any of these screen shots for full-size versions) I’m using version 12 of WMP, so I’m going to assume you’re a good little computer user and you keep your software up-to-date as well Anyway, once you have WMP open, you need to view your Library. If WMP doesn’t take you there by default, just press CTRL+1 and it will take you there. Now that you’re in your library, you need to right click on whatever type of media you want to be able to browse on your phone (I’m choosing Videos for this example) and then click Manage Videos Library. You will then be greeted with the Videos Library Locations box. At this point, just click Add, point it to whatever folder you would like to be shared to AllShare, and then click Include Folder. Once you do that, you will be brought back to the Videos Library Locations box, at which point you should see your new folder that you just shared. That’s it! You will now be able to stream videos (and whatever other media type you add the same way in WMP) to your AllShare-equipped Galaxy S device! Pretty simple eh?
You know how when you tap pretty much anything on the Galaxy S the whole phone vibrates? Well this is called haptic feedback. Some people like it, some hate it. We’ve received a few emails asking how to get rid of it, so we decided to make this guide to answer the question. It’s pretty simple. From your home screen, tap the Menu button From here tap settings: Once you’re in the settings menu, you’re going to want to tap Sound and Display: Once you tap sound and display, scroll down to where you see Haptic Feedback, and tap the checked box to disable haptic feedback. And that’s it! Your phone will no longer vibrate when you tap soft keys and different UI interactions. (It’ll still vibrate for things like notifications and everything else, just not when you physically interact with it) Note right under haptic feedback you have the ability to control how strong the feedback intensity is. So if you like the haptic feedback, just not how strong it is, you can reduce that too. Hope you all learned something!
Have you been wanting an app to connect with a particular audience? With the growing number of smartphones, the potential is certainly there to do so. But creating an app requires technical know-how and time spent tediously with code and the like, right? Well, perhaps this article is for you. Read on after the break. A platform developer company by the name of Mobile Roadie has released an upscale version of its previous app creation software, allowing potential creators lots of creative potential with little technical know-how. The full breadth of what you can do with the platform is pretty impressive, though it does seem limited to the whole “connecting with your fans/audience” spectrum of apps. It allows you to create an app that seamlessly connects to your online blogs, social networks, online store, pictures, and videos, and also communicate to your audience through the app, all while giving you the freedom to personalize that app to your every whim, practically. The app then gives the end user the option to easily push the information on the app to whatever social networks that they’re on. The viral potential here is fierce, great for those budding artist/musician types, and current users include Wynn Las Vegas, Ninja Tune, and The FADER. That said, the service is not free. The base plan they have is $499 to set up, followed by a $29 per month bill, while the advertised Pro plan (with all the customization) will set you back $1,999 for the initial setup cost, followed by $99 per month. You would certainly have to make sure the cost was worth whatever it may bring in. Naturally, nothing is going to compare to an honest to goodness human coder/creator putting out a really good app and we have yet to see how this is going to compare to the virtual WYSIWYG system that Android themselves are pushing out. However, if you’re looking to connect your work to the masses and you’ve got the cash to invest, you may want to check it out. At the very least, you may want to check out the video of the program in action. Click here to view the embedded video. via [ Mobile Roadie website ] For more information on Android and the current Android mobile phones, check out our Android Guides Super Customizable App Creator Launched by Mobile Roadie

Logitech is gearing up to release the first Google TV companion box, the Revue, and their first teaser commercial has just gone live on YouTube. The 30 second spot poses the question, “What does TV do when no one’s watching?” and proceeds to show a TV set walk into a pool. I’m not sure if the TV is supposed to be committing suicide, but a Logitech blog posts discusses how the TV is losing attention as it competes with PCs and sends them a message of hope. “Hold on, TV. Revue is coming.” Check out the video after the break and let us know what you think of Logitech’s latest ad. We expect to more details to be released next month when Google makes some TV related announcements.
